2nd January Prayer

A Prayer for Strength in Our Resolutions

Dear loving Father,

As the optimism of New Year’s Day gently settles and normal life begins to resume, I come to You with a heart both hopeful and humble. The promises I’ve made to myself and to You are still fresh, like footprints in newly fallen snow, and I seek Your strength to help them endure.

Lord, You know the resolutions I’ve written in my heart – the changes I wish to make, the habits I hope to break, the dreams I long to pursue. But You also know my weaknesses, how easily my determination can fade like morning mist.

Give me the strength not just to make promises, but to keep them. Help me remember that transformation isn’t found in grand gestures, but in small, faithful steps taken day after day.

When enthusiasm wanes and old patterns tempt me to return, remind me of Your unchanging presence. Let me find courage in knowing that You don’t expect perfection, only sincere effort and a willing heart.

Help me be gentle with myself when I stumble, but bold enough to rise and begin again.

Guide me to see beyond surface-level changes to the deeper work You want to do in my life. May my resolutions not just be about better habits, but about becoming more like You – more loving, more forgiving, more generous in spirit.

In moments of doubt, let me feel Your encouraging presence. When my resolve weakens, strengthen me with Your unfailing love. Help me remember that with You, every day offers a chance to begin anew, not just this season of resolutions.

Father, as I journey through this year, transform my well-intentioned promises into lasting change. Let each step forward, no matter how small, bring me closer to the person You created me to be. May my resolutions become not just a list of goals, but a pathway to deeper faith and stronger connection with You.

In Jesus’ name, I pray,
Amen.
